Alice
My heart has been being slowly crushed over the last few months. Alice was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease. Getting her to eat was the primary challenge. This made the special kidney foods nearly completely ineffective. Many meals were spent hand feeding her anything I could get her to eat. Kibble, kibble with treats, kibble with Hamburger, just Hamburger, just treats, and part of a steak. She just kept getting skinnier and skinnier. Throughout she kept her enthusiasm for fetching the ball. Like throwing a switch when the ball comes out. But now we've come to the end. She hadn't eaten in a week, and now she couldn't drink. We could see it in her eyes. It was time. Probably the most attached I've ever been to a pet. She would crawl under the blankets and snuggle into my arms like a teddy bear. This one hurts. You're such a sweet girl, Alice. See you on the other side of the rainbow bridge. I miss you so much already.
