Welcome back.

I've been feeling like it might be time to turn this thing back on as a photo blog for awhile. Generally speaking the social media format is less stable than I'd like as a place to store memories. My posts there are infrequent and generally telling a story with pictures at this point, so maybe this is a better format anyway.

Found this new low water crossing on a pass through Shimek recently. Made me focus on holding my line for a second. It'll be interesting to see how it holds up. Seems like about half a solution. Could be even more treacherous with a handful of freeze thaw cycles as it is.

I'm in the midst of re-imagining the Fat recumbent after having the chainstay join fail. The cross tube deformed and it peeled right off there. The tubing was thin, but I also wonder if I didn't get as hot as I normally would, since I brazed it in place in the bamboo frame, and I was trying not to set that on fire. Many lessons learned with that fiasco. Anyway, I've more or less got a working geometry for long wheelbase frames now, and the headtube is already a bolt on affair, so now I'm doing the same on the back end. I'll make interchangeable rear triangles. 26x5.05 and long for snow, short 29er for gravel and trail. That'll give me the chance to test various wheelbase lengths without needing to build complete bikes.

Alice is fighting with some kidney disfunction. The original plan was special foods and medications. The reality is that I feed her whatever I can get her to eat as often as I can get her to just to keep her weight from plummeting. It's rough, but as long as she continues to demand me to throw the ball, this is the new normal. Savor the time you have.
